Cavedon Prosecco 2021

This is made in the old school Col Fondo style, notably produced in the Veneto region of Italy. Fermented on lees in the bottle, unfiltered and un-disgorged, is the idea. What you get is a creamy textured, fizzy wine with hazy, green apple juice elements dusted with sweet spice, ginger biscuit and dried stone fruit notes all lifted on tart, mixed-citrus tang. Vivid, fresh, bright, fun.

S'Express Winemakers Stupid Little White 2023

We love Ryan O'Meara from Express Winemakers, so much so that for the past several years we've been collaborating on unique wines with him under our collaborative label S'Express - it's a place for added creativity and left of centre releases that tickle our mutual fancy. This year's Stupid Little White comes in the form of a racy, chardonnay. Think pithy white grapefruit, fresh pineapple tang and briny lift to finish.

Terzini CO.OP NO SO2 Sassara Vino Rosato 2022

Scents of watermelon rind, pomegranate juice, fennel and faint Chinese five spice. Exotic and enticing perfume, lots of it, super fresh, almost a briny, minerally feel to each sniff. The palate has crunch and crispness on its side, light haze of talc-like tannin, a juicy appeal too, lots of that watermelon character, cranberry drink, woody spices, green almond and faint gingery notes that linger through the exceptionally persistent finish. It’s pitch perfect, really, quietly complex and generally just darn absolutely delightful. - winefront.com.au

Stoney Rise No Clothes, No So2 Pinot Gris Friulano 2023

The wine sees around three weeks on skins before being pressed off. Orange wine magic. The friulano does floral, rose water and lychee elements, the gris is tart, botanical and Campari-like with green pear and gentle cashew notes alongside. Highly perfumed, refreshing to drink with a sense of savouriness underlying. This is a really cool expression, super different for Australian skin fermented whites, but manages to feel a little like an homage to Friuli (Italy) in its way. Should mature well too, but drink with gusto now.

Commune of Buttons Commie Juice 2023

Made exclusively for us by the legendary siblings that are Sophie and Jasper Button in the Adelaide Hills. It's a pinot noir/syrah. Cherry-pomegranate business. Punchy, crunchy. Bell-ring brightness. Easy. Delicious. Don't think. Just drink.

El'more Syrah 2023

A relative new-comer to the winemaking scene, though the family is based on a seventh generation farm in the Yarra. This syrah is pretty much the dictionary definition for that naming of shiraz (syrah!), medium weight, silky textured, with floral-spice-game meat perfume and a big swish of red cherry both in bouquet and palate. It slips along on fine, lacy tannins, shows some nice pucker in the lingering, minerally finish. Character plus, but a touch of class here - even, balanced and harmonious, oh and delicious, red wine.
